A new, 2,200SF dock + boathouse located in Clearwater Bay, Ontario. The final design features a screen room & sauna, storage, and tandem boat slips for two watercraft. The unique linear configuration directly responds to the dock's limited developable width as prescribed by the local building regulations, resulting in a 25-foot narrow x 100-foot long structure.
The narrow width posed a challenge for the design team as to how best to accommodate two watercraft and dock space for sun and play. A substantial operable wall was incorporated to maximize the functionality and flexibility of the waterfront dock space. Polycarbonate sheets, as typically used in greenhouse buildings, were used as the primary cladding, which ensures maximum, diffused interior light throughout.
